With a view to improve efficiency and reduce IT operating costs Howards invited Shiloh Jentech to conduct and audit of their current IT systems and procedures. Shiloh Jentech initially focused on providing immediate operational improvements whilst aiming to install an IT infrastructure that would service Howards for the future.
Shiloh Jentech initiated improvements by recommending the provision of new centralised server equipment which would become the backbone of Howard’s new IT infrastructure. While Shiloh Jentech were installing the new server equipment into the offices at Howards the opportunity was taken to re configure the communications routing. By properly implementing those two significant changes the speed and efficiency of communication across the network dramatically improved.

One of the challenges that faced Shiloh Jentech was the question of how best to maximise the efficiency of the communication between Howard’s sites that were only 2 miles apart, in some cases even less. The challenge was to find a cost effective, secure solution that would allow users from other sites to access files on a server based in one of the Weston Super-Mare sites. Finding a solution for the future was a case of looking into Shiloh Jentech’s past. Shiloh Jentech have and continue to operate a successful Rural Wireless Broadband Network in Shropshire that provides households unable to receive a BT connection. Having built and developed the Shiloh Jentech Rural Broadband Network has given Shiloh Jentech over 10 years of experience in developing high speed long distance wireless connections. Using the latest 54Mb technology and Shiloh Jentech’s experience Howards were able to benefit from an external wireless network spanning Weston Super-Mare that gave them the full functionality of an in-office wired network.
